Of CounselSteve joined the firm in September 2011 after having worked as associate in the litigation department of the New York law firm of Kaye Scholer LLP. His practice focuses on intellectual property litigation, complex commercial litigation, securities litigation and antitrust litigation. He also counsels clients on issues related to copyright, trademark, trade secret, patent, technology transfer and technology licensing. At Kaye Scholer, Steve worked on a broad range of cases from complex commercial litigation, intellectual property litigation, securities and shareholder litigation, real estate litigation and adversary proceedings in bankruptcy. Many of these cases involved claims for over several hundred million dollars. During the 2007-2008 clerkship year, Steve served as a law clerk to the Honorable William H. Walls for the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey. Steve has worked in a number of industries before practicing law and has an in-depth knowledge of the consumer products, financial and software industries. After college, Steve worked as a management consultant for PriceWaterhouseCoopers LLC where he helped clients in the financial sector design, build and test internet-based supply chain management systems. After PwC, Steve worked as a management consultant for Kana Communications Inc., then a silicon valley startup software company, where he helped clients in the consumer products sector design, build and test internet-based customer relationship management systems. During the summer of 2003 and the academic school years for 2004 and 2005, Steve worked at Morgan Stanley’s Law Division while attending law school full-time. At Morgan Stanley, Steve worked with a team of attorneys and bankers to analyze credit and bankruptcy risks in cross-border derivatives and securities transactions. Steve is admitted to practice law in New York, Tennessee and the Southern and Eastern District Courts for the Districts of New York. Steve was born in Guangzhou, China but grew up in the lower east side of New York City. He graduated from Williams College in 1998 with a B.A. in English Literature and Asian Studies. In 2005, he received his law degree from Columbia University School of Law where he served as the Production Editor for the Columbia Journal of the Law and Arts. Steve has conversational fluency in Mandarin and Cantonese Chinese. He can also program in C, PowerBuilder, Java, Visual Basic and SQL. Steve is married to Dr. Shellen Wu, a professor of history at the University of Tennessee, where Steve also serves as an adjunct professor at the University of Tennessee College of Law and teaches a course on Pretrial Litigation.
