Of CouncelKatie graduated in 1979 from King College in Bristol, Tennessee, where she was a member of the tennis team and cross-country team. She obtained a Master’s of Business Administration from the University of Tennessee with a concentration in Finance and a Juris Doctor from the University of Tennessee in 1982. Katie worked for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation in Knoxville, Tennessee and Midland, Texas for six years. Katie concentrated in negotiating debt restructure agreements for large commercial loans from failed banks and the sale of loan portfolios. She managed a team of attorneys and support staff assigned to large credit negotiations. Katie returned to a commercial litigation and creditors’ rights practice after her and her husband Greg’s daughter entered pre-school. While practicing in Sevierville, Tennessee from 1991 until 1998, Katie enjoyed teaching Principles of Finance, Principles of Business Management and Business Law at Pellissippi State Technical Community College. Katie joined Young, Williams, Kirk & Stone, PC in 1998 as Of Counsel. Katie’s primary practice areas are business litigation, commercial law, including insurance policy disputes, creditors’ rights, and collections. Katie is a member of the Knoxville, Tennessee and American Bar Associations. Katie has continued her love of teaching and students as the Senior High Sunday School teacher and Youth leader at Ebenezer United Methodist Church. Katie volunteers weekly in the church’s women’s prison ministry, and supports the Water Angels Church in downtown Knoxville when time permits. Katie has previously served as the Church’s Chairman of the Board of Trustees. Katie continues to volunteer at Christian Academy of Knoxville, most recently as the tennis team representative for the CAK Booster Club, with the Casa Hogar, Mexico mission program, and formerly as an assistant tennis team coach. Katie has been a regular Mobile Meals volunteer for the CAC Office on Aging since 2001. Greg is employed as a Vice-President of Vanderbilt Mortgage, Inc. Greg enjoys Bible Study Fellowship and is a board member of the Knoxville chapter of Junior Achievement. |
